Most of these non-traditional wedding caterers will travel the length and breadth of the UK to cater for weddings, festivals and other events. If you fancy having them at your big day, drop them a line. You may also find something similar more local to you.

Off Piste Gelato – Yorkshire

Delicious Italian gelato from a ski gondola? Hell yes! This quirky business took a gondola off the slopes in Austria and now these guys have 20 flavours to choose from including strawberries & cream and unicorn flavour. Their packages include unlimited gelato or prosecco, yum!

Hip Hop Chip Shop – North West

Served from a giant boom box, this is a chippy with a difference. They market themselves as “a licensed fish & chip shop with hip hop in its soul.” I have it on good authority that the food is bangin’ and who doesn’t love a good chip supper?

The Land Doughver – South East

Whoever thought of building a wood-fired pizza oven into the side of a Defender was definitely on something but it somehow works! These guys are serious about pizza and produce freshly made, hand stretched sourdough pizzas topped with locally sourced ingredients.

Wild Food Kitchen – South West

Fancy a menu that’s been foraged from the woods? Wild Food Kitchen are the caterers for you. Their ‘wild and rustic’ catering features ingredients like wild venison, mushrooms and nettles served from a vintage Citroen van.

La Petite Creperie – North East

Run by two frenchmen living in the North East, La Petite Creperie brings a taste of France with delicious crepes and galettes. They cater weddings serving unlimited crepes with a range of toppings, which is sure to go down a treat with guests. They’ve gathered many loyal fans in their Newcastle Grainger market base, myself included.

Pie Eyed – North West

Serving roper pie, mash and mushy peas from a horse box, these guys are serious about their pies. Everything is made from scratch and they have a big selection of fillings to chose from for your wedding. They can even emblazon the lid of the pie with your initials. ‘Nuf said.

Beefy Burger Boys – South East

These boys know a thing or two about what it takes to make a good patty. Their award-winning burgers will have your guests’ mouths watering. If you’re after a break from the boring buffet get these guys to cater your wedding breakfast!

Baked in Brick – Midlands

Cooking out of converted Mini Coopers, these guys are experts when it comes to BBQ chicken wraps, wood fired Neapolitan pizza and other specials. If you’re wondering how I know? They’ve come highly recommended and won numerous street food awards to prove it.

Delightfully Delicious – Scotland

These guys transformed a horse trailer into a waffle and milkshake hut and called it Leslie! If you love sweet treats then this is the wedding caterer for you. They are happy to cater weddings and I for one would be very happy to have this as the food offering (perhaps alongside a savoury alternative).

The Bearded Taco – Wales

How does this sound for a vegan option? Californian gin and tonic tempura avocado served with a lemon and agave slaw, vegan chipotle aioli & fresh coriander… Pretty epic right? All of the tacos these guys serve are gluten-free and the fillings are fresh and delicious, with plenty of meat options as well as the aforementioned vegan delight.
